Fiber Optic Process Flow Cells
Process flow cells refer to a type of flow cell that is used in chemical processing and manufacturing. It typically involves a channel or chamber through which a fluid is pumped or flows, and the chemical reactions and processes that occur in this flow cell can be monitored, measured, and controlled. These cells are commonly used in a variety of industrial and scientific applications, including chemical synthesis, analysis, and purification.
Firebird Optics has a variety of flow cells from 0.05-500mm and a large variety of materials and seals. We can also manufacture custom cells upon request.
EZ-CAL Flow Cell (Lightpath: 1-100mm)
EZ-CAL Flow Cell (Lightpath: 1-100mm)
High-pressure (2000psi) fiber optic flow cells in a ⅜” configuration with adjustable lightpaths. For use in demanding industrial environments. Features a slot where users can place a FireflySci NIST-traceable calibration standard
Spectral properties can be measured when used in conjunction with Optical Interface Couplers. Comes standard with UV Quartz couplers. Connects to any photometric analyzer via SMA-905 connections.
The Dual EZ-CAL Flow Cell can also be configured with two independent pathlengths.

Advantages of EZ-CAL Flow Cell:
Reduced valving requirements
No zero or span valves (3 way’s)
No waste stream from zero/span gases or liquids to dispose of
No possibility of either sample or reference carryover into flow cell
Reduced risk of leaks because there are fewer fittings/tubing to deal with
Reduced dependence on Reference material
Advantages for gas applications
No cylinder requirement
No pressure regulator requirement
No cylinder shut off valves to contend with
No cylinder stratification to contend with
No cylinder temperature issues to contend with
Advantages for Liquid applications
No liquid standards to deal with
No worries that the standards have changed over time
No worries that the reference container is full or empty
No worries about what to do with spent reference material
No dependence on lab to make liquid samples
Reduced risk of leaks from fittings
Main reasons to switch to the EZ-CAL system
Reduced overall cost (reduced hardware costs and reduced size, weight, shipping costs)
Reduced overall risks to safety
Standards can be solid or sealed cuvette filled primary or secondary NIST traceable
Standards can be solid ND filters with various absorbances, colored glass (for vis) filters, UV or NIR specific customized filters
Standards can be purchased from several sources
Standards will all fit into a standard 10mm block that is integrated into the EZ-CAL flow cell
If handled properly, standards can be used over and over
Standards can be “re-certified” by a 3rd party for validation purposes
Standards can be carried into the field, inserted into the flow cell and then brought back to the engineering department or lab
Customer never exposes him/her-self to toxic, carcinogenic or explosive samples
Calibrations/validations are performed via “calibration by standard addition”
Standard Specifications
⅜” CROSS FLOW CELL
Lightpath: adjustable 1-100mm
Body material: 316 Stainless Steel
Pressure rating: 2,000psi
Standard Optical interface couplers: UV Quartz (190-2,500nm)
Various reference/optical filters can be easily inserted into the optical path of the flow cell to add a fixed amount of absorbance to your instrument’s baseline.
Photometric/spectrophotometric validation/calibration without shutting down the process or introducing gases or liquids into the process stream.
Reference materials can be liquid or solid NIST traceable standards.
